Tribute to Dick Kramlich for the Exploratorium

CHALLENGE
The Exploratorium - a museum of science, art, and human perception - approached DDP to create a video for its 23rd annual awards dinner, the museum's premier fundraising event of the season. With a theme of "Visions and Visionaries," the event would recognize the valuable and visionary contributions of five exemplary individuals to technology and the arts and sciences. One of these individuals, Dick Kramlich, a renowned venture capitalist and benefactor of the Exploratorium, was to be the subject of the video. The museum was looking for an engaging video that would capture Mr. Kramlich's pioneering spirit.

SOLUTION
DDP delivered a compelling eight-minute video tribute that revealed the visionary character and varied accomplishments of Dick Kramlich. Blending interviews with friends and associates of Mr. Kramlich, including CEOs of prominent Silicon Valley high-tech firms, DDP created a lively and sensitive portrait of a unique businessman and philanthropist. The video utilized motion graphics to amplify the event's theme of "Visions and Visionaries" and add visual interest to the program. The motion graphics incorporated images, words, and colors that evoked and built upon the design theme of the invitations, print program, and other event graphics.

RESULTS
Shown at the Exploratorium's annual awards dinner on May 31, 2000, the program was well received by the audience. The museum has asked DDP to produce another video for this year's awards event.
